Normally, a trip to Subway means grabbing a quick, tasty, and relatively inexpensive sandwich compared to other options. However, for Vera Conner, a Georgia woman, a routine visit to her local Subway in College Park, a suburb of Atlanta, turned into a financial nightmare. What was supposed to be a $7.54 Italian sub, with her coupon, ended up costing her more than most people spend on sandwiches in their lifetime.
According to WSB-TV in Atlanta, a shocking error occurred during Conner's transaction. Instead of being charged the usual $7.54 for her sandwich, an astounding $7,112.98 was accidentally added as a tip. This exorbitant charge left Conner battling to get the massive sum reversed.

Conner recounted that the error happened when she tried to enter her phone number for Subway rewards. Unexpectedly, the screen switched to the tip section, resulting in the hefty charge.
“This is unbelievable because I feel like everyone that sees it, has to know that it’s a mistake," Conner expressed to the ABC affiliate. Her experience in retail made her acutely aware of how unusual this situation was.
Efforts to resolve the issue hit a wall when Conner reportedly tried to speak with the location manager, who refused to engage. Further complicating matters, her credit card carrier denied her dispute of the charge. As of now, there has been no comment from Subway's corporate offices regarding this incident.
Conner's experience serves as a cautionary tale about the potential pitfalls of digital payment systems.
