Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) meeting at the Ramstein airbase in Germany on January 9.

The meeting is the final gathering in this format before U.S. President-elect Donald Trump takes office on January 20.

Zelensky is also scheduled to hold several bilateral meetings during the summit.

"A new chapter starts for Europe and the entire world in just 11 days. We must cooperate more, rely on each other more, and achieve even greater results together," Zelensky said during his opening speech alongside outgoing U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

This was reported by The Kyiv Independent.

Trump's upcoming return to the White House has raised concerns about the future of U.S. support for Ukraine. The president-elect has been critical of the Biden administration's military aid to Kyiv, creating uncertainty about whether this support will continue.

At the meeting, the Biden administration is expected to announce a $500 million military aid package for Ukraine. This will be the last aid tranche provided under Biden's presidency.

Around $3.8 billion remains available through the presidential drawdown authority (PDA), but it is unclear if Trump will continue to use this tool to send weapons to Ukraine.

Zelensky's Call for Unity

Zelensky urged Ukraine's allies not to ease their support as his country continues to defend itself against Russian aggression.

"We've come such a long way that it would honestly be crazy to drop the ball now and not keep building on the defense coalitions we've created," he said.

The UDCG, formed in April 2022, includes 57 countries, among them all 32 NATO members. It was established to coordinate international military aid for Ukraine.
