Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Medical Trade Company (MTC) and Tolyatti State University, innovative biodegradable MgSorb implants made from magnesium have been developed and successfully integrated into production.

The development was supported by clinical studies conducted at the N.N. Burdenko Military Clinical Hospital.

The choice of magnesium as the base material for these implants stems from its natural presence in the human body, with well-studied safe levels in the bloodstream. The implants dissolve completely without significantly increasing magnesium levels in the body.

Maxim Medvedev, a trauma orthopedic surgeon and a key figure at the Medical Trade Company, emphasized the importance of biodegradable implants in modern medicine.

He highlighted that magnesium implants closely mimic human bone characteristics, offering promising prospects in the treatment of complex fractures and injuries.

Biodegradable implants eliminate the need for subsequent surgical removal and gradually dissolve in the body after fulfilling their function.

This approach allows patients to avoid additional surgeries and significantly reduces recovery time, enabling quicker return to daily life, work, and active lifestyles.

Igor Zhuk, CEO of MTC, underscored that this not only enhances patients' quality of life but also alleviates the burden on healthcare facilities and the overall healthcare system.

Moreover, these implants can incorporate medicinal components such as antibiotics, antiseptics, and hormones, aiding in combating implant-associated infections and accelerating healing processes.

The increasing significance of biodegradable implants, particularly in pediatric traumatology and military settings, highlights their versatile applications and benefits across diverse medical scenarios.

MTC is committed to localizing implant production in Russia as part of its strategy for import substitution. This initiative aims to enhance national healthcare capabilities and ensure sustained availability of advanced medical solutions.
