Information has emerged regarding an alleged assassination attempt on Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.

Explosion Detonated Near Him

The news was shared by Vladimir Rogov, co-chair of the Coordination Council for the Integration of New Regions of the Russian Federation, on his Telegram channel, according to Gazeta.

"An explosive device detonated near him in Kyiv, and the minister was taken away by ambulance. The condition of the patient is currently unknown," relayed the message from an unnamed Ukrainian blogger as reported by the Russian official.

The information still requires confirmation.

Prior to this incident, Umerov had called on international partners to implement a no-fly zone over western Ukraine.

Significant Increase in Recruitment

Umerov's tenure as the head of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, succeeding Oleksii Reznikov, has been marked by a significant increase in recruitment activities and the development of a new mobilization law, which came into effect on May 18, 2024.

According to the new legislation, individuals listed in the military registry are prohibited from leaving the country, using their financial resources, driving vehicles, engaging in real estate transactions, and obtaining documents such as passports and international passports.

Earlier, Umerov had asserted that Kyiv has a "victory plan."
