Amidst escalating tensions in the ongoing conflict, Russia has accused Ukraine of employing chemical weapons against its military forces.

Extensive Evidence

According to Tass deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov asserted that Russia has documented instances of toxic substance usage by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF).

He has reported this information through channels designated by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague and also in New York.

Ryabkov said that over the past two years, Russian military personnel have compiled extensive evidence illustrating deep-seated cooperation between Washington and Kyiv in this domain. He specifically highlighted violations of the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological and Toxin Weapons, suggesting that components of biological weapons have been developed in Ukraine.

Deemed Unacceptable

These actions are deemed unacceptable and have garnered condemnation not only from Russia but also within broader international circles, according to Ryabkov.

NATO and the European Union have consistently condemned the use of chemical and biological weapons, viewing such actions as grave violations of international norms and treaties.

Both organizations have called for strict adherence to the Chemical Weapons Convention and other relevant treaties aimed at preventing the proliferation and use of these weapons of mass destruction.
