During Ukraine's Independence Day celebrations, President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a message to Russia: the war is now hitting closer to home for Moscow.
In a video recorded in the Sumy region, near the Russian border, Zelensky vowed "retaliation" against Russia following Ukraine's offensive in the Kursk region earlier this month.
As reported by 20 Minutes, Ukrainian forces have already seized dozens of localities in this unprecedented incursion.
A New Weapon: The "Palianytsia"
To boost Ukrainian morale, Zelensky revealed that Ukraine has successfully tested a new long-range strike drone named "Palianytsia."
This drone is reportedly faster and more powerful than any currently in Ukraine's arsenal, thanks to its jet engine. Unlike other drones, the "Palianytsia" can be launched from land, rather than requiring fighter planes, according to the Ukrainian daily The Kyiv Independent and the French news site La Dépêche.
Details about the "Palianytsia" remain closely guarded.
Zelensky stated that the drone hit all its targets during testing, but beyond this, little is known about its capabilities.
If the drone proves to be as effective as Zelensky suggests, it could provide Ukraine with a critical long-range strike capability, allowing Kyiv to target Russian positions deep within enemy territory.
