Scout Motors has officially announced the launch of its highly anticipated new vehicles, set to debut on October 24, 2024.

Features Electric Pickup Truck

This date marks exactly 44 years since the last International Scout II rolled off the production line. The announcement comes at a time when the Volkswagen Group, which currently owns Scout Motors, is facing various challenges.

The new lineup will feature an electric SUV and an electric pickup truck. However, enthusiasts should temper their excitement; the initial unveiling will showcase prototypes rather than production-ready vehicles.

Currently, details about the new models remain scarce, but recent sketches hint at designs with significant ground clearance and minimal overhangs.

Competed With Ford and Chevrolet

To build anticipation, Scout Motors released a teaser video highlighting a compass mounted in the vehicle's interior, suggesting that the upcoming models will boast advanced off-road capabilities. The video features the stylized name “Scout” alongside the launch date of 10.24.2024, leaving potential buyers eager for more information.

Historically, International Scout vehicles competed with iconic models such as the Ford Bronco and Chevrolet Blazer, playing a crucial role in the development of the SUV segment. However, financial difficulties led to the brand's decline, with the last Scout II manufactured on October 24, 1980.

Volkswagen acquired the rights to the Scout name in 2020 through its purchase of Navistar, a company based in Illinois. The new Scout vehicles will be produced in a state-of-the-art facility in Blythewood, South Carolina, with a projected production capacity of up to 200,000 vehicles annually. This revival marks a significant moment for both the brand and the American automotive industry, combining nostalgia with cutting-edge electric technology.
