A U.S. insurance company has analyzed which car brand owners receive the most tickets and are involved in the most accidents.

Insurance provider LendingTree conducted an analysis via QuoteWizard to determine which drivers in the U.S. have the most violations, including:
Accidents
DUIs
Speeding violations
Traffic tickets
The study covers the period from January 1, 2024 – December 31, 2024.
The Worst Drivers

Tesla, Ram, and Subaru top the list of the worst drivers.
Tesla owners had 36.94 incidents per 1,000 drivers, a significant increase from 31.13 in 2023.
Ram owners had 33.92 incidents, improving from last year’s worst ranking.
Subaru owners had 32.85 incidents, maintaining their third-place ranking.
The Best Drivers

Mercury, Pontiac, and Cadillac have the best drivers.
Mercury owners had only 18.63 incidents per 1,000 drivers, nearly half the rate of Tesla drivers.
Pontiac (19.72) and Cadillac (20.75) followed closely behind.
Mercury was once again ranked as the brand with the safest drivers.
Accident Rates

The brands with the worst drivers also have the highest accident rates:
Tesla: 26.67 accidents per 1,000 drivers.
Ram: 23.15 accidents per 1,000 drivers.
Subaru: 22.89 accidents per 1,000 drivers.
These figures align with rankings from the 2023 study.

Brands with the lowest accident rates:
Pontiac: 10.33 accidents per 1,000 drivers.
Mercury: 11.50 accidents per 1,000 drivers.
Chrysler: 12.94 accidents per 1,000 drivers.
DUI Rankings – The Worst and Best

Pontiac has overtaken BMW as the brand with the highest DUI rate:
Pontiac: 3.11 DUIs per 1,000 drivers (a massive increase from 1.09 the previous year).
BMW: 2.57 DUIs per 1,000 drivers.
Tesla: 2.23 DUIs per 1,000 drivers.
Brands With the Lowest DUI Rates

Volvo: 1.13 DUIs per 1,000 drivers.
Hyundai: 1.20 DUIs per 1,000 drivers.
Kia: 1.22 DUIs per 1,000 drivers.
Tesla Drivers Are Getting Worse

Tesla owners saw a major decline in driving behavior:
Incidents increased from 31.13 in 2023 to 36.94 in 2024.
Their accident rate is among the highest in the study.
Tesla drivers also rank among the highest for DUI offenses.
Ram Owners Show Improvement
