Andrew Tate, the controversial social media figure, has been placed under house arrest, while his brother, Tristan Tate, has been released under judicial supervision.
Recruit and Exploit 34 Victims
According to Hotnews the two brothers are facing serious charges, including human trafficking, child exploitation, and money laundering, as part of an ongoing investigation by Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT).
On Wednesday evening, Romanian prosecutors detained the Tate brothers and requested a 30-day pretrial detention. However, a judge at the Bucharest Tribunal ruled to place Andrew Tate under house arrest and release Tristan Tate under judicial supervision.
The judge cited their previous compliance with legal restrictions as a factor in the decision. The Tates have denied all allegations, maintaining that the charges are unfounded.
According to DIICOT, the Tate brothers are accused of using the "loverboy" method to recruit and exploit 34 victims, forcing them to create pornographic content for profit. This operation reportedly generated over $2.8 million in cash and additional profits from nearly 900,000 tokens on adult platforms.
Manipulated a Minor
Further allegations include the exploitation of a 17-year-old girl between 2014 and 2021. Prosecutors claim one of the brothers manipulated the minor into producing pornographic content, from which they profited over $1.5 million.
The investigation also revealed that between December 2023 and July 2024, the brothers allegedly laundered money by purchasing luxury vehicles in the names of associates.
Authorities have seized significant assets during raids, including €26,000, £5,800, luxury watches, and several high-end vehicles. The case is ongoing, with additional legal proceedings expected in the coming months.
The Tate brothers, along with two associates, are also awaiting trial in a separate case related to the creation of pornographic content for financial gain.
