Public transportation incidents, while generally rare, can lead to significant safety concerns when passengers and staff face violent threats.

In many cases, authorities must act swiftly to prevent further risk and apprehend the perpetrators before situations escalate further.

A dangerous incident shook Warsaw's Mokotów district on Tuesday when an unidentified gunman opened fire on a Route 119 bus.

According to reports from Miejski Reporter, the attacker targeted the driver directly. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though the situation could have easily ended in tragedy.

Shots Fired After Confrontation

The attack occurred just after 5:00 p.m. Witnesses say the gunman boarded the bus, demanded the driver’s license, and, after being refused, exited the vehicle.

He then pulled out a weapon resembling a firearm and fired three shots through the closed doors, aiming for the driver's position.

The driver later described the chilling encounter, stating, "He took out something that looked like a gun and shot three times, aiming directly at me."

Search Underway for the Suspect

The attacker fled immediately after firing the shots. Passengers were unable to determine if the suspect had been traveling on the bus or had been waiting at a stop.

Authorities suspect that the weapon may have been an air gun, given the bullet holes in the bus's doors and the lack of serious injuries. Nonetheless, the incident has heightened concerns about public safety.

Police quickly arrived on the scene and have since launched an investigation.

Witnesses have provided descriptions of the gunman, and officers are following multiple leads to identify and locate the suspect. Authorities are also working to uncover a possible motive behind the attack.
