Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukașenko has instructed national experts to conduct an extensive search for rare earth minerals, emphasizing the urgency of the matter.
The directive comes amid growing international interest in securing access to these resources, especially following recent negotiations between the United States and Ukraine regarding rare earth mining.
According to Digi24, Lukașhenko tasked Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Shuleiko with ensuring that Belarus is no longer "geologically underdeveloped." He also instructed geologists to search for oil and gas reserves alongside rare earth deposits.
"This is the number one issue today," Lukașenko stated, adding that Belarus may have similar amounts of these resources as other countries.
