Overnight attacks involving drones and missiles struck industrial sites in Russia's Bryansk and Rostov regions, causing fires and significant damage, Russian media outlet Astra reported on December 11.
In the Bryansk region, a fire broke out at a Transneft-owned oil refinery following a series of drone attacks. Regional authorities reported that 10 aircraft-type drones were shot down, while the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed a total of 14 drones were intercepted.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces later confirmed a targeted strike on a Russian oil depot in Bryansk.
“Units of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine struck an oil depot in the Russian Bryansk region,” read the Ukrainian statement.
The Bryansk oil depot, part of the Druzhba oil pipeline system, plays a critical role in receiving, storing, and distributing diesel fuel, primarily for Russian military logistics. Preliminary reports indicate that oil tanks were hit, triggering a massive fire.
Local residents identified the blaze as occurring near the Transneft refinery, adjacent to a meat-processing plant. Emergency crews from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations extinguished the fire, according to official reports.
In the Rostov region, a missile strike reportedly targeted an industrial site in Taganrog. Eyewitnesses suggested the damage centered on the Taganrog Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex of G.M. Beriev (TANTK), a key facility producing aircraft and defense technologies for the Russian Ministry of Defense, including the A-50 and A-100 airborne early warning systems.
The acting governor of Rostov confirmed the attack, reporting damage to the industrial facility and the destruction of 14 cars parked nearby. Local residents also reported explosions in Taganrog’s western district, where the Beriev aviation complex is located.
These incidents come amid an ongoing campaign by Ukraine to disrupt Russian military supply chains. Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence reported earlier that one-third of the facilities supplying fuel to Russian military forces have been damaged or rendered inoperable due to specialized operations.
