Explosions rocked Kyiv as the Ukrainian capital experienced an air attack, confirmed by its mayor.

For the first time since late September, Kyiv's residents were urged to seek shelter amid the renewed aerial assault on the city.

Mayor Vitali Klitschko updated on Telegram, stating:

"Strong explosions were heard on the left bank of the capital. Preliminary information suggests the activation of anti-aircraft ballistic missile forces. The alarm continues. Stay in shelters!"

As reported by Reuters, there was no immediate information regarding casualties from the attack.

Air raid alerts were issued for Kyiv and the surrounding area just minutes before the explosions were heard, signaling a potential imminent threat.

This latest assault on Kyiv follows Russia's claim of downing two Ukrainian drones over its territory. The Russian defense ministry informed via Telegram, "Anti-aircraft units intercepted lethal drones over the territory of Smolensk and Moscow regions."

The situation in Kyiv remains tense as the city confronts its first aerial strike in months, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict.
