Alexander Lukashenko stated that Ukraine and the West should begin negotiations with Russia regarding the Ukrainian conflict.

These negotiations should be conducted according to the Istanbul agreements.

"Today is the moment, primarily for the Ukrainians, to sit down and reach a final agreement," the Shot Telegram channel quotes Lukashenko's words.

He noted that the negotiations should be based on the agreements that were signed in Istanbul in the spring of 2022. Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously expressed a similar position.

The press secretary of the head of state, Dmitry Peskov, earlier reported that Putin's statements about returning to peaceful negotiations are a continuation of a position that is often distorted by the Western side.

Countries can return to dialogue based on the Istanbul agreements.

According to Pravda, Peskov has announced that Russia is ready to engage in a peace dialogue, but the same cannot be said for Kyiv.
