Russian forces launched a deadly drone attack on the Odesa region during the night of September 27, killing three people in the port city of Izmail, near the border with Romania.

Oleg Kiper, head of the region’s military administration, confirmed the casualties on Telegram, which included two middle-aged women and a 73-year-old man. In addition to the fatalities, 11 people were injured, one of whom was a child.

The attack damaged private homes, apartment buildings, vehicles, and various other structures. Fires broke out across the city due to the strikes.

The attack on Izmail, a critical port city on the Danube River, resulted in multiple fires and substantial damage to buildings.

The city is located near Romania and has been a frequent target in recent months due to its strategic importance in Ukraine’s grain export operations.

Ukrainian Air Defense Response

Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russia launched 32 Shahed drones, one Iskander-M/KM-23 ballistic missile, and two X-22 cruise missiles toward Ukrainian territory. Air defense systems intercepted 24 drones, but one drone reportedly entered Romanian airspace.

Ukrainian authorities have yet to confirm any damage from the missile strikes.
