The Armed Forces of Ukraine have successfully destroyed a Russian 1L119 Nebo-SVU radar system in the temporarily occupied Kherson region, the Telegram channel Dosye Shpiona reported on January 19.

The radar belonged to Russia’s 90th Air Defense Missile Brigade under the 49th Army, based in the Krasnodar region.

Three strike drones were deployed in the operation, which not only rendered the radar system irreparable but also destroyed a critical diesel power station supporting its functionality.

Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed the strike in its daily report for January 18.

About the Nebo-SVU Radar

The 1L119 Nebo-SVU is an advanced radar system designed for airspace monitoring, capable of detecting, tracking, and providing precise coordinates for various aerial targets.

It is particularly adept at identifying stealth aircraft and pinpointing the source of jamming signals. The radar can function independently or as part of an integrated air defense system.

According to Ukrainian military media Defense Express, the price of this sophisticated radar system can reach $100 million per unit.

Key technical specifications include:

  • Detection range for a fighter at 20 km altitude: up to 380 km.

  • Detection range at 500 m altitude: up to 65 km.

  • Deployment time: less than 30 minutes, with a crew of four operators.

  • High mobility: Allows deployment in unprepared locations.

By neutralizing the Nebo-SVU radar, Ukraine has dealt a major blow to Russia’s air defense infrastructure.
