On November 13, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree adjusting the compensation structure for Russian military personnel injured in the conflict with Ukraine.
According to United24 Media, payouts for “light” and “minor” injuries will be reduced under the new decree, while compensation for severe injuries will remain unchanged.
According to Russia’s official news agency, RIA, soldiers with severe injuries will continue to receive $31,000. Those with light injuries will now receive $10,300, while minor injuries will be compensated with $1,000.
Previously, Russian soldiers qualified for the $31,000 payout regardless of the injury’s severity.
This adjustment comes as Russia faces increasing financial pressures, including a strained defense budget due to Western sanctions and rising military costs.
There are also reports that Russia is considering foreign recruits, including North Korean soldiers, who may earn up to $2,000 monthly for their involvement in the Ukraine conflict, as reported by The Korea Herald.
