CFMOTO Powersports has announced a recall of approximately 3,630 ZFORCE 950 HO Sport Side-by-Side Recreational Off-Highway Vehicles (ROVs) from the 2022-2023 model years due to a significant safety hazard.

May Detach and Cause Collapse

According to CPSC the issue involves the shock absorber rod assembly, which may unthread and detach, causing the vehicle's suspension to collapse. This malfunction increases the risk of crashes and tip-overs, posing serious dangers to riders.

The affected vehicles are available in gray, orange, and tan colors, with “CFMOTO” stamped on the front and “ZFORCE” printed on the side of the chassis.

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is stamped on the frame, located just ahead of the right rear wheel.

Stop Ride Notice

CFMOTO has issued a Stop Ride notice and is urging all owners to immediately cease using the affected ROVs. Owners should contact an authorized CFMOTO dealer to schedule a free repair. The company is actively reaching out to all registered owners and dealers to ensure they are aware of the recall and the necessary repair procedures.

The recall follows approximately 86 reports of incidents where the shock absorber failed, resulting in suspension collapse. One reported tip-over led to rib injuries.

The ZFORCE 950 HO Sport ROVs were sold through CFMOTO dealers nationwide from March 2022 through June 2024, with a retail price around $14,000. The vehicles were manufactured in China.

For more information, owners can contact CFMOTO Powersports Inc. in Plymouth, Minnesota. This recall underscores the importance of prompt action to address potential safety issues and ensure rider safety.
