In Kherson Oblast, one person was killed and eight were injured in attacks targeting the city of Kherson and five nearby settlements, Governor Oleksandr Prokudin stated on Telegram.
In Donetsk Oblast, one person was injured, Governor Vadym Filashkin reported.
Overnight on December 9, Russia launched two Kh-59/69 cruise missiles and 37 Shahed drones, along with other unidentified drones, from the Black Sea, according to Ukraine's Air Force.
Ukrainian air defense systems intercepted 18 drones across nine oblasts, but 19 drones were not destroyed and remained in the airspace, the Air Force confirmed to the Kyiv Independent.
Meanwhile, U.S. assistance to Ukraine remains uncertain.
Former President Donald Trump, who has pledged to end the war within 24 hours if reelected, hinted at reducing U.S. aid to Ukraine as a strategy to force negotiations.
In an NBC interview on December 8, Trump suggested Ukraine should prepare for potentially reduced support, responding, "Possibly, sure," when asked about the likelihood.
Trump also claimed in a social media post following a meeting with President Zelensky in France that Russia has suffered 600,000 casualties in the war, while Ukraine has sustained 400,000 injuries and fatalities.
