Yuri Kuznetsov, the head of the Main Personnel Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense, has been arrested under suspicion of accepting a significantly large bribe, according to Svetlana Petrenko, the official representative of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (ICR).
The announcement was made on Tuesday, detailing that a criminal case has been initiated against Kuznetsov under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which pertains to receiving bribes on an especially large scale.
Petrenko reported that following an investigator’s petition, a court has ordered Kuznetsov to be detained as a preventive measure.
The accusations stem from activities between 2021 and 2023, during which Kuznetsov allegedly accepted bribes from commercial entities in exchange for performing favorable actions while he was leading the eighth directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.
The investigation has led to substantial findings.
During searches at Kuznetsov’s residence and registered addresses, authorities seized over 100 million rubles in cash, both in rubles and foreign currency, along with gold coins, collectible watches, and other luxury items.
