A delegation from the Russian Federation Council has arrived in Pyongyang for a five-day visit.

The delegation is led by 80-year-old Grigory Rapota, a deputy of the Federation Council and a member of the Committee on International Affairs.

According to the Russian Embassy in North Korea, the delegation arrived on Monday and will remain in Pyongyang until Friday.

During this period, discussions will focus on enhancing legislative collaboration and planning future engagements between the two nations.

This visit comes amid a notable increase in cooperative activities between North Korea and Russia.

Recently, a North Korean delegation from the border town of Rason concluded a week-long visit to the Russian Far East.

During this trip, the governor of Russia's Primorsky Territory, Oleg Kozhemyako, announced plans to resume passenger train services between Vladivostok and North Korea, a service that had been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In February, a delegation from North Korea’s ruling Workers' Party, led by Kim Su-gil, visited Russia at the invitation of the United Russia party. Kim also met with Gennady Zyuganov, the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.
