A Russian pilot has provided classified information to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (GUR) following an airstrike on the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital, according to Ukrainska Pravda.
Shocking Turn of Events
Following Monday’s devastating airstrike on the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital, a Russian pilot stationed at the Engels airbase has reportedly handed over sensitive data to Ukrainian intelligence.
The pilot contacted a GUR chatbot on Tuesday, expressing his shock over the hospital strike and his desire to provide intelligence.
The GUR received detailed information about senior Russian officers, personal data on servicemen and their families, and private photos of the command staff of the 22nd Heavy Bomber Aviation Division.
The Engels airbase in Saratov, known for launching sorties over Ukraine with Kh-101 cruise missiles, is a key Russian military site.
Background on the Strike
The Russian military launched a massive barrage of airstrikes against Ukraine on Monday. The attack resulted in 33 deaths, including five children, and 125 injuries in Kyiv alone.
Ukrainian authorities have accused Russian forces of deliberately targeting the children’s hospital with a Kh-101 cruise missile.
In contrast, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov denied these accusations, claiming that the Russian military did not target civilian infrastructure.
The Russian Defence Ministry attributed the damage to falling debris from Ukraine’s air defenses.
