The night between March 21 and 22, the Defense Forces of Ukraine destroyed 55 Russian Shahed drones and 37 missiles.
Mykola Oleschuk, commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, shared this development on Telegram.
According to Oleschuk, on the night of March 22, Russia launched a combined missile-aircraft strike against critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.
Russia deployed a total of 151 aerial assault instruments in this extensive operation, including 63 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs, launched from the Prymorsko-Akhtarsk area
The assault also included 12 "Iskander-M" ballistic missiles and 40 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles, fired from various regions including the Caspian Sea, Rostov, and temporarily occupied Crimea.
In response to the air-missile attack, a coordinated defense effort involving the Air Force and Ground Forces' anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups, and the Defense Forces of Ukraine's radio-electronic warfare equipment successfully neutralized the threat.
This collective action led to the destruction of 92 air targets, including 55 Shahed-136/131 type attack UAVs, 35 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles, and 2 Kh-59 guided air missiles.
In light of these events, during a European Council meeting on March 21, President Volodymyr Zelensky voiced the urgent need for the European Union to bolster Ukraine's air defense capabilities by supplying additional systems and ammunition.
