Late Tuesday night, around 11:00 p.m., Russian forces launched a rocket strike on the city of Zaporizhzhia in southeast Ukraine.
The attack resulted in the deaths of two people, including an eight-year-old boy. It also left a 12-year-old girl and a 43-year-old man injured.
The head of the Zaporizhzhya Regional Military Administration (OVA), Ivan Fedorov, shared details of the attack on Telegram, noting the loss of the young boy and a 38-year-old woman. The attack caused partial destruction of a building, with the blast wave and debris damaging nearby high-rise structures.
The assault on Zaporizhzhia was part of a broader offensive by Russian forces.
According to Fedorov, the enemy carried out 11 airstrikes on several other locations, including Orikhov, Novoandriivka, Malia Tokmachka, Novodarivka, and Preobrazhenka.
In addition, 198 UAVs of various types targeted Gulyaipole, Novoandriivka, Robotine, Mala Tokmachka, Malynyvka, Novodanilivka, and Poltavka. Gulyaipole and Novodanilivka were also hit by three rounds of anti-aircraft fire. Over 100 artillery shells were fired at various territories, causing extensive damage to residential buildings and infrastructure.
The Zaporizhzhia region has been under intense bombardment, with multiple casualties reported in recent days.
In a separate incident, two elderly women and a 61-year-old man were killed in a Russian drone attack on the city, while four others were injured.
