France has committed to increasing its ammunition supplies to Ukraine in 2024, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry revealed on November 30, 2023.
This pledge was made during a meeting in Kyiv between Ukrainian Deputy Defense Ministers Dmytro Klimenkov and Lieutenant-General Ivan Havryliuk and a French defense delegation led by Engineer General Jean-Francois Dock.
General Dock affirmed France's strong support for Ukraine, highlighting efforts to partially cover Ukraine's arms and spare parts purchases through the French support fund.
Additionally, plans to augment ammunition supplies next year were discussed, reinforcing France's role in assisting Ukraine's defense needs.
The meeting also focused on enhancing military logistics cooperation.
Lieutenant-General Havryliuk acknowledged France's consistent provision of ammunition, particularly for the Caesar self-propelled guns. Ukraine has already received 30 Caesar self-propelled howitzers (6x6 version) from France and an additional 19 units (8x8 model) from Denmark.
The decision to increase munitions supply is timely, as Kyiv's allies are urged to escalate weapons production for Ukraine.
This development coincides with Russia's significant increase in its defense budget for the upcoming year, indicating potential intensification of the conflict in Ukraine.
