During a rally in Aurora, Colorado, Donald Trump took a hardline stance on immigration, labeling migrants as dangerous criminals.

Ani-Immigration Narrative

Trump’s rhetoric intensified as he demanded the death penalty for migrants who kill American citizens.

This bold statement is part of his growing anti-immigration narrative as he campaigns for the upcoming presidential election against Democratic candidate Kamala Harris on November 5, according to Digi24.

The rally featured posters depicting alleged members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, emphasizing Trump’s focus on gang violence and illegal immigration.

If elected, he vowed to initiate a national “Operation Aurora” targeting gang members. Trump’s campaign has increasingly focused on illegal immigration, a pressing concern for voters, with polls showing that many see him as the best candidate to tackle this issue.

Proposed to Extend Death Penalty

“I'm calling for the death penalty for any migrant who kills a citizen or law enforcement officer,” Trump declared to roaring applause from his supporters.

His previous proposals have included extending the death penalty to other crimes, such as human trafficking. However, nearly half of U.S. states currently prohibit the death penalty, and while there is a federal death penalty, it is rarely applied, according to the Death Penalty Information Center.

Any expansion of crimes eligible for the death penalty would require Congressional approval.

One of the hallmarks of Trump’s third presidential campaign has been his focus on what he terms “criminality among migrants,” despite research indicating that immigrants do not commit crimes at higher rates than native-born Americans.

Trump’s campaign rhetoric has resonated with many voters, solidifying his position as a strong contender in the race.

Kamala Harris’s campaign team has not immediately responded to requests for comments regarding Trump’s death penalty proposal. As the Democratic vice-presidential candidate,

Harris has consistently reiterated her commitment to border security, recently accusing Trump of contributing to the blockage of bipartisan legislation aimed at enhancing border security in Congress earlier this year.
