Russia faced a tough night as critical infrastructure was hit by a series of attacks.
A massive fire broke out at the Atlas oil depot in the Rostov region, and multiple explosions were reported in the city of Tuapse in Krasnodar.
These incidents, linked to drone activity, have added more pressure to the country’s military supply chains, according to Ziare.
The fire at the Atlas depot began late Thursday night. A video posted on Telegram shortly after midnight showed the facility engulfed in flames.
Local authorities deployed nearly 40 fire trucks to control the blaze, according to The New Voice of Ukraine. Rostov Governor Yuri Slyusar stated that over 30 drones were intercepted in the northwest of the region.
Not the First Attack
This is not the first time the Atlas depot has been attacked. T
he facility supplies petroleum products to the Russian military and is managed by the Federal Agency for State Reserves in the Southern Federal District.
In August, Ukrainian forces carried out a drone strike on the depot, causing extensive damage. Eight large oil tanks were destroyed, and four others were severely damaged in that attack.
The depot has been a key site for Russian military logistics. In 2020, it hosted joint exercises between the Russian Ministry of Defense and Rosrezerv during the "Caucasus 2020" drills.
These exercises practiced fuel delivery methods using roads, railways, and pipelines.
At the same time, explosions and air defense activity were reported overnight in Tuapse.
Residents said they heard several blasts around 2:00 a.m., and local defense systems appeared to activate. The authorities have not yet commented on what happened in the city.
