Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk took a strong stance against recent diplomatic efforts by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, stating that "no phone call can stop Russia’s aggression in Ukraine."

His comments came on Sunday, following Scholz’s controversial conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to Hotnews.

“No one will stop Putin with phone calls,” Tusk wrote on social media platform X.

He criticized the approach, emphasizing that the devastating overnight assault on Ukraine by Russian forces underscored the futility of phone diplomacy.

"Last night’s attack, one of the worst in this war, proved that phone diplomacy cannot replace genuine support from the entire West for Ukraine," he added.

Chancellor Faces Backlash

Ukraine faced one of its largest Russian offensives in months, with over 200 missiles and drones targeting its already fragile energy grid.

The strikes resulted in at least nine deaths and 20 injuries, according to Ukrainian officials.

The escalation comes as Scholz faces backlash for his direct communication with Putin.

Defending his decision, the German Chancellor reaffirmed Germany’s unwavering support for Ukraine and assured that no decisions about the war’s outcome would be made without Kyiv's involvement.

While Tusk has openly condemned the call, he welcomed Scholz’s recent alignment with a stance Poland has long advocated: “Nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.”
