The Romanian Naval Forces have announced a strategic deployment aimed at enhancing maritime security in the Black Sea.

On Wednesday, June 26th, they revealed that the maritime dredger belonging to Romania, named 30 "Sublieutenant Alexandru Axente," will integrate into an operational group starting next month.

This group, known as the Mine Countermeasures Black Sea Task Group (MCM BS TG), focuses on combating sea mines to ensure safer navigation and regional stability.

Operational Details and International Collaboration

Departing from the military port of Constanța on June 26th, the maritime dredger immediately began conducting anti-mine operations.

It accompanied the training ship Mircea during an international training march through the Mediterranean Sea, ensuring safe passage until reaching the Turkish straits.

The vessel, part of the 146th Division Mine-Demining Vessels, will soon dock in Istanbul, Turkey, where on July 1st, it will join naval forces from Bulgaria and Turkey in activating the MCM BLACK SEA group.

This multinational effort highlights Romania's commitment to collective defense initiatives in the Black Sea region.

Contribution to Regional Security

By participating in missions alongside Bulgaria and Turkey, the Romanian Naval Forces aim to bolster collective defense measures in the Black Sea. The involvement of maritime dredger Sublieutenant Alexandru Axente underscores Romania's dedication to safeguarding navigational safety and combating potential threats posed by sea mines.

Commanded by Lieutenant Commander Ioan Moldovan, the crew of 74 personnel exemplifies Romania's capability and readiness in multinational maritime exercises, including the upcoming Exercise BREEZE 24 in Burgas, Bulgaria, from July 6th to 12th.
