Russian forces targeted the Novopavlivska community in Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region with a KAB guided bomb on the morning of February 28, according to Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration.

No casualties have been reported.

The overnight hours saw four Russian drones intercepted and destroyed by Ukrainian air defenses over the region. However, earlier in the evening, a Russian drone attack ignited a minibus and damaged a private enterprise in the Pokrovska community.

Wave of Attacks on the Nikopol District

Throughout February 27, Russian forces continued relentless assaults on the Pokrovska and Marhanetska communities of the Nikopol district. The attacks included suicide drones and munitions dropped from UAVs, causing damage to local infrastructure.

Lysak confirmed that in Pokrovska, a minibus caught fire following an evening drone strike, with emergency crews working to extinguish the flames. Additionally, a private enterprise suffered structural damage from the attack.

This latest escalation comes as Russian troops launched over 25 artillery and drone strikes on the Nikopol district in a single day, further intensifying pressure on Ukraine’s eastern and southern defenses.

Escalating Use of KAB Bombs

Russia has increasingly relied on KAB guided bombs, which are Soviet-era aerial bombs modified with modern guidance kits, allowing them to be dropped from a distance while evading Ukrainian air defenses.

The continued use of these weapons has significantly heightened the destruction of civilian and critical infrastructure across Ukraine.
