The Netherlands will soon supply Ukraine with the first of 24 promised F-16 fighter jets, the Dutch government announced.

According to Ziare the necessary authorizations for the delivery of the planes to Ukraine have been granted. So said Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren said in a letter to parliament that she delivered just before Mark Rutte's government handed over the baton to the new coalition government on Tuesday (July 2.) formed after months and months of negotiations, following last year's elections.
The minister avoided specifying how many planes will be part of the first delivery and when they will arrive in Ukraine, for security reasons.
The Netherlands was one of the driving forces behind the international coalition formed to supply Ukraine with F-16 jets to bolster its air defenses against Russia.
The Dutch government previously provided F-16s to the training center in Romania, where Ukrainian pilots and ground staff are taught to fly and maintain the fighter jets.
In April, Ollongren said he expected deliveries of F-16s promised by Denmark, the Netherlands and the United States to begin within months.
