Russian forces claim Ukraine has started using a new type of long-range kamikaze drone called LORD.

Photos of what are believed to be its remains have been shared by Russian media and WP Tech.

These claims have not been confirmed.

What Do We Know About the LORD Drone?

According to the Ukrainian website Defense Blog, LORD is a drone designed by a startup called Differentiators. The company was reportedly founded by Russian dissident Mikhail Kokorich, though the company has not confirmed any involvement with the drone or Ukraine’s military.

The drone is said to have a range between 750 and 2,000 kilometers, depending on its version. If Ukraine is using LORD, it would be one of its longest-range drones, capable of hitting targets far inside Russian territory.

Why Is Russia Worried?

Russian officials are reportedly alarmed by the drone’s potential for long-range kamikaze missions. Defense Blog says LORD is designed for low-cost, mass production and has a small radar signature, making it hard to detect.

The drone is also said to be able to operate without radio signals, which would make it more difficult for enemies to track or jam it.

If Ukraine is using drones like LORD, it could give them a major advantage by allowing strikes on key Russian infrastructure far from the battlefield. This would add a new capability to Ukraine’s military, which has increasingly relied on drones for precision strikes.

Ukraine has not confirmed using the LORD drone, and its exact role in recent attacks remains unclear.
