Ukrainian forces have destroyed a Russian Osa-AKM air defense system, valued at around $10 million, according to footage shared by Ukraine’s 411th Separate Battalion of Unmanned Aerial Systems ‘Yastruby’ on December 16.
The video captures Ukrainian reconnaissance drones tracking the Osa-AKM as it attempts to retreat into concealment.
Operators from the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion provided surveillance to ensure the target was locked in.
Moments later, a precise strike hits the building housing the system, leading to a powerful explosion and its confirmed destruction.
While the exact weapon used in the strike has not been disclosed, the precision suggests the use of advanced drone munitions.
The military also refrained from specifying the location or range of the attack, likely to protect operational tactics.

The Osa-AKM System
The Osa-AKM is a Soviet-designed short-range air defense system armed with six 9M33M3 missiles. Capable of engaging aerial targets within 1.5 to 10 kilometers and at altitudes from 10 to 5,000 meters, the system has been a key component of Russia’s low-altitude air defense.
In October 2024, Ukrainian forces estimated the system's value at $10 million, underscoring the economic impact of its destruction.
This strike is the latest in a string of Ukrainian drone successes against high-value Russian targets.
Earlier, Ukrainian drones took out a $27 million Tor-M2 air defense system in the Zaporizhzhia region.
