Poland has launched the “East Shield” project, a massive defensive line along its 400-kilometer border with Russia and Belarus.
Announced earlier by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the project aims to strengthen border security with anti-tank barriers, known as “dragon’s teeth,” and extensive trench networks.
This ambitious initiative is part of Poland’s broader effort to enhance national security and ensure its borders are “impassable for the enemy in times of war,” according to Tusk.

The East Shield, expected to be completed by 2028, comes amid increased security concerns across Europe.
In recent months, Norway announced it is exploring a border fence with Russia, citing potential refugee influxes.
Finland has also initiated construction of a border fence with Russia, bolstering border controls to counter hybrid threats, including large-scale migration and destabilization efforts.
