Toyota is defying industry trends with an ambitious hiring plan.

The renowned Japanese automaker plans to recruit 500 permanent staff in a single effort and hire at least 100 temporary workers monthly throughout 2025 to boost production, particularly for the popular Yaris Cross model.

According to French media, this expansion will occur at Toyota's factory in Onnaing. A cornerstone of the Hauts-de-France region's economy, the Onnaing plant is among France's key car manufacturing facilities.

In 2023, the plant produced 275,000 vehicles, with the Yaris Cross — launched in 2021 — making up 75% of the output. Toyota now aims to increase annual production to 300,000 cars, supported by its new recruitment drive.

To meet these goals, Toyota is hiring 500 permanent employees and 100 temporary workers monthly.

The Onnaing factory, which currently employs over 4,000 people, is one of eight Toyota plants in Europe. The expanded workforce will help the company meet growing demand for the Yaris Cross and boost the local economy.

Toyota isn’t alone in stepping up hiring.

In 2024, Aston Martin also launched a major recruitment campaign, and Chinese automaker BYD brought on an astounding 200,000 new employees in just three months.
