Honda has a long-standing reputation for innovation in the automotive world.

As the industry evolves, the company is responding to new challenges and shifting market demands, particularly in China, where electric vehicles and advanced technology are in high demand.

Facing declining sales in China, Honda has teamed up with Chinese tech giant Huawei to incorporate state-of-the-art infotainment and semi-autonomous driving systems into its vehicles.

Introduces New Brand

This collaboration comes after a difficult period for Honda, which reported a 30% drop in sales in the first 11 months of 2024, moving 769,547 vehicles compared to over a million during the same timeframe in 2023.

The decrease is tied to the growing preference among Chinese consumers for electric and hybrid cars equipped with advanced features, according to Boosted.

Honda's current electric vehicle lineup, including the e:N series, has struggled to gain traction in the competitive market.

To address these challenges, Honda has introduced a new brand, “Ye,” created specifically for China.

The Ye S7 and Ye P7 SUVs, the first models under the new brand, will integrate Huawei’s Qiankun ADS system.

This technology provides semi-autonomous driving features, such as Navigation Cruise Assist (NCA), allowing cars to travel from one parking spot to another without driver input.

These models were initially set to launch in 2024 but are now expected to debut in early 2025.

The delay is tied to adjustments in marketing strategies and further integration of artificial intelligence features.

Beyond Huawei’s contributions, these vehicles will include Honda’s Sensing 360+ technology, a 40-inch augmented reality head-up display, and a high-capacity 89.8 kWh battery.

Major components will be supplied by leading companies such as CATL and iFlytek.
