A recall has been issued for Grabeez brand The Big Cheese Snack Mix sold in eight states, due to undeclared almonds and cashews that could pose a serious health risk to people with tree nut allergies, according to the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

Affected Products

The recalled products are 3.25-ounce cups of Grabeez The Big Cheese Snack Mix, with a best before date of "041625" and a UPC of "0 94184 00439 8" stamped on the bottom.

These snack mixes were sold between August 23, 2024 and September 19, 2024 in the following regions:

  • District of Columbia

  • Florida

  • Illinois

  • Minnesota

  • North Carolina

  • South Carolina

  • Tennessee

  • Virginia

Why the Recall?

The recall was triggered after a consumer found tree nuts in the product, which weren’t listed on the label.

The company discovered that The Big Cheese mix was mislabeled and instead contained another mix that includes raisins, almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and cashews.

What to Do

Consumers who purchased the affected snack mix are advised to dispose of the product or request a refund through the company's website.

While no illnesses have been reported, those with tree nut allergies are at risk of anaphylaxis after consuming the mislabeled product.

Symptoms of an allergic reaction can include hives, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and, in severe cases, trouble breathing or cardiac arrest. If you experience any of these symptoms after consuming the snack, seek medical attention immediately.

For more information, visit the FDA’s website or contact the company for a refund.
