We can all relate to being so hungry that we've acted in ways we normally wouldn't.
However, it's probably very few of us who have been in such a foul mood due to hunger that it resulted in an arrest.
This was the case for 54-year-old Alberto De Barros, who had walked into his local Subway restaurant in Stuart, Florida.
Alberto De Barros had placed his order and had the employee add the necessary ingredients, but when the 54-year-old man received his sandwich, he completely lost it.
It wasn't sliced in half.
You see, the man noticed that the sandwich had not been cut in two, as is customary at Subway, and that's when he went berserk.
According to the police report from the Martin County Sheriff's Office, obtained by the police news outlet The Smoking Gun, Alberto De Barros became so furious that he took his sandwich and threw it directly at Cassandra Pierre-Louis, who had just made his sandwich.
As Alberto De Barros left the restaurant, Cassandra Pierre-Louis followed him and photographed his license plate, leading the police to De Barros' nearby townhouse.
The police arrived and arrested the man, and during questioning, he admitted that he had become "so upset that his sandwich had not been cut in half." Additionally, De Barros believed he had thrown the sandwich at the counter, not at Pierre-Louis.
However, surveillance camera footage, as reported by The Smoking Gun, showed that Cassandra Pierre-Louis was indeed hit by the sandwich in the lower part of her body.
The 54-year-old man spent one night in the Martin County jail before being released on a $1,000 bond, which he posted himself. He is scheduled for a court hearing on February 1st.
