Russian authorities have criticized the United States, suggesting that funds sent to Ukraine would be better used to bolster domestic security, following an attack on former President Donald Trump during a rally.

Mocks Assassination Attempts

According to El Economista this comes after Kyiv acknowledged several assassination attempts on President Vladimir Putin.

"Perhaps it would be better to use this money to fund the police and other services that should ensure law and order within the United States?" Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded to criticisms by Bobby Kennedy, nephew of former President John F. Kennedy, about the security agencies' "failure" to protect Trump.

Zakharova also referenced recent statements by the head of Ukrainian Military Intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, who admitted that there have been multiple attempts to assassinate Putin, allegedly funded by U.S. money. Without such financing, Ukrainian intelligence agencies would not be able to carry out these "harmful activities," she claimed.

"With massive funding and uncontrolled arms supplies, Washington has created a terrorist structure in Ukraine: the Kyiv regime. This is a machine of killings, explosions, and terrorist attacks against both political figures and civilians," Zakharova said.

Zelensky's Reaction

Former U.S. President Donald Trump was injured on Saturday during a campaign event in Pennsylvania, where shots were fired, resulting in two deaths, including the shooter, who has been identified.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his horror at the incident: "I was horrified to learn about the shooting at former U.S. President Donald Trump's rally in Pennsylvania. Such violence is unjustifiable and has no place anywhere in the world. Violence should never win."

Zelensky added, "I am relieved that Donald Trump is now safe and wish him a speedy recovery. I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the victim of this attack."

"I wish strength to all those who were horrified by this incident. I hope the United States emerges stronger from this," the Ukrainian leader concluded.
