Charging your mobile phone overnight may seem like a convenient solution for many, but experts are now warning that it could be harmful to both the phone and the user.

Many of us have the habit of plugging in our smartphones for charging just before going to bed, expecting to wake up to a fully charged device. However, according to tech experts, this practice can actually shorten the lifespan of your mobile phone.

"Continuous charging over an extended period can lead to overheating, which in turn can damage the battery," says a tech expert according to Dagens.se.

In addition, there are safety risks associated with charging the phone overnight. There have been reported cases where overheated phones have caused fires.

"It's best to err on the side of caution and not charge your phone when you can't monitor it," adds the expert.

For those concerned that their phone battery won't last the entire day, experts recommend using energy-saving modes and turning off unnecessary apps.

"There are many ways to maximize battery life without having to continuously charge the phone," says another expert in the field.

So the next time you consider charging your phone overnight, think twice. It may be better for both your phone and your safety to charge it during the day when you can keep an eye on it.
