Explosions Rock Kyiv as Russia Launches Kinzhal Missiles

Explosions shook Kyiv early on Sept. 26.

Explosions were heard in Kyiv on the morning of September 26, shortly after an air raid alert sounded across the city, according to Kyiv Independent correspondents.

Ukraine's Air Force confirmed that Russia had deployed Kinzhal ballistic missiles using a MiG-31K aircraft, a known carrier of the missile system.

At least two missiles were reportedly launched during the attack.

No damage or casualties have been confirmed at this time.

Earlier in the night, over 15 drones were detected near Kyiv, with Ukrainian air defense units successfully downing around 10 of them, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration. No casualties have been reported from the drone activity either.

In addition to Kyiv, explosions were also reported in Starokostiantyniv, a town in Khmelnytskyi Oblast, home to a key Ukrainian air base.

Local authorities have not yet provided details on the situation in the region.
