German defense company ARX Robotics is integrating Ukrainian-made turrets into its ground-based robotic systems, a major step in military innovation aimed at bolstering Ukraine’s battlefield capabilities.
The announcement was made at the Defense Tech Innovation Forum on February 20, held at the EXPO center in Kyiv.
The GEREON RCS, ARX Robotics' flagship unmanned ground vehicle (UGV), is a tracked modular platform designed to carry various combat payloads up to 500 kilograms with an operational range of up to 40 kilometers. The GEREON series consists of four models: GEREON RCS, GEREON ATR, GEREON 3, and GEREON 2.
To support Ukraine’s war effort, ARX Robotics has opened an office in Ukraine, backed by the German government, to facilitate the delivery of ground-based drones. The office will focus on training military personnel, providing basic maintenance, and offering technical support for the robotic systems.
Igor Kornilov, CEO of ARX Ukraine, confirmed that the company is actively integrating Ukrainian-made combat turrets onto its platforms.
"We are already working on integrating Ukrainian-made turrets into our platforms to expand the application of our robots," Kornilov stated.
The platforms will be controlled using three communication methods:
Silvus radio station
4G or 5G networks
Starlink satellite connection
The next phase of collaboration will involve the localization of production in Ukraine to scale up research and development efforts. As part of the agreement, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive 30 GEREON RCS tracked platforms to be deployed for logistics operations and medical evacuations.
This partnership underscores Ukraine’s growing defense cooperation with European allies and highlights the increasing role of unmanned ground systems in modern warfare.
