On the night of January 30, a Russian drone attack struck a residential building in Sumy, northeastern Ukraine. According to local authorities, the attack killed two people and injured at least nine others.

Acting Regional Governor Volodymyr Artiukh reported on Telegram that a Shahed-type attack drone hit a multistory residential building in the city. Among the injured are a 7-year-old child and an 18-year-old man. Authorities have not yet provided further details on the other victims.

At 7:00 a.m. local time, emergency responders recovered two bodies from the rubble, Ukraine's State Emergency Service confirmed.

Rescue workers continue to search the site for possible additional victims.

Videos posted from the scene show severe structural damage, particularly between the sixth and seventh floors of the building.

Authorities later confirmed that 12 balconies were destroyed in the attack. Some of the injured victims have been hospitalized, with several in serious condition.

Located near the Ukraine-Russia border, Sumy and the surrounding region have been under relentless assault since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion.

On January 29, the Sumy Oblast Military Administration reported 106 separate attacks targeting the region throughout the day.
