Ukrainian forces struck a third bridge over the Seym River in Russia's Kursk region, further crippling the region's infrastructure.

Three Spans of Bridges Destroyed

According to Lenta the destruction of this latest bridge has severely impacted transportation and forced the Russian military to rely entirely on pontoon bridges for supplies and evacuations.

According to reports, three spans of the bridge were destroyed, complicating efforts to move residents out of the affected areas.

The evacuations, which began earlier, have been particularly challenging, with civilians being transported across the river in boats.

Videos circulating on social media show the difficulties faced by those fleeing the conflict, including elderly individuals being carefully carried from boats to safety.

3000 Residents Evacuated

The attacks on the bridges started on August 16, when Ukrainian forces hit the first bridge in the village of Zvannoye, Glushkovo district.

The strike, reportedly involving HIMARS rocket systems, caused one span of the bridge to collapse. A second bridge was targeted on August 19, and now the destruction of the third bridge has escalated the crisis.

The conflict in the Kursk region has been ongoing for nearly two weeks, leading to the declaration of a federal state of emergency and the implementation of counterterrorism measures.

Approximately 3,000 residents have been evacuated from border areas, while the fate of around 2,000 people in territories now controlled by Ukrainian forces remains unknown.
