The Ukrainian Air Force launched a precision airstrike on Russian positions in the Zaporizhzhia region, targeting key enemy fortifications and personnel.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released footage of the strike, which took place on February 17 near the village of Chumatske.

Strike Takes Out Russian Forces and Drone Launch Site

The video shows Russian troops moving near a concealed position in a wooded area before an explosion wipes out the site.

According to Ukrainian military officials as cited by Militarnyi, the attack destroyed fortifications, a deployment area for Russian personnel, and a launch site used for drone operations.

The targeted unit was identified as the 2nd Motorized Rifle Battalion of Russia’s 64th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade. This position had been used for combat operations against Ukrainian forces in Zaporizhzhia, making it a significant threat.

Cutting-Edge Weapons in Action

While Ukraine has not disclosed the specific weapons used, experts suggest that the attack may have involved advanced precision-guided munitions.

Possibilities include aerial bombs equipped with American JDAM-ER or GBU-39/B Small Diameter Bomb kits, as well as French AASM (HAMMER) systems.

Recently, Ukrainian forces have also begun using 1,000-pound (454 kg) Mark 83 bombs with JDAM-ER guidance kits, further increasing their precision strike capabilities.

Earlier reports confirmed that Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jets had deployed these powerful bombs against Russian positions.

This latest airstrike is part of Ukraine’s broader strategy to weaken Russian combat potential. Ukrainian forces have increasingly targeted enemy strongholds and drone launch sites, including a recent strike on a Russian position in Russia’s Kursk region that had been used to launch drones toward Ukraine’s Sumy region.
