Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been accused of embezzlement in the construction of the Kyiv children's hospital "Ohmatdet," a military cemetery in the Kyiv region, and several other projects, as well as corruption within the military.
Directly Responsible for the Thefts
According to Lenta these allegations were made by Alexey Goncharenko, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament, on his Telegram channel.
Goncharenko, who is listed as a terrorist and extremist by Russia's financial monitoring agency, claimed that Zelensky is directly responsible for the thefts, emphasizing that these are not minor infractions by lower-level officials, but acts of corruption orchestrated by the president himself.
"Who is stealing from 'Ohmatdet'? Not some minor official, but Zelensky. Who is stealing from the army? Not some minister, but Zelensky. Who is stealing from the cemetery? Not some swindlers, but Zelensky," stated Goncharenko.
Mounting Scrutiny and Criticism
He elaborated that Zelensky has consolidated all power in his hands and must therefore be held accountable for the embezzlement of funds.
Previously, Goncharenko had called for the dismissal of Alexander Syrsky, the commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). He also suggested that former commander of the AFU's joint forces, Yuri Sodol, should face criminal charges.
These accusations add to the mounting scrutiny and criticism faced by President Zelensky regarding his administration's handling of corruption and governance. While these claims have yet to be substantiated with concrete evidence, they reflect the ongoing political tensions and challenges within Ukraine.
