A video recently shared on social media by Ukrainian special forces claims to show the destruction of a group of Russian infantry attempting a nighttime assault in Russia’s Kursk region.

An Ambush Targeting Russians

The footage reveals what appears to be an ambush targeting Russian soldiers who were trying to advance in the contested Kursk front, an area recently struck by surprise Ukrainian attacks.

In the video, two Russian armored vehicles, identified as BTR-82As, are seen as the initial casualties. The BTR-82A, an updated version of the Soviet-era BTR-80, is an armored personnel carrier widely used by Russian forces, according to Hotnews.

This vehicle is equipped with a 30mm automatic cannon, a 7.62mm machine gun, and can carry up to seven infantry troops.

It offers moderate armor protection, primarily against small arms and light explosives, but remains vulnerable to anti-tank mines, portable launchers, and drones due to its relatively light defensive armor.

Attempted to Escape

The armored carriers in the video either hit mines or were struck by Ukrainian drones or portable anti-tank launchers, leading them to catch fire.

With their vehicles disabled, the Russian soldiers attempted to escape on foot but quickly found themselves under targeted fire from a Ukrainian special forces sniper.

This encounter underscores the increasing use of advanced sniper tactics and ambush setups by Ukrainian forces.

The intense clip, posted on the social media platform X, captures the harrowing sequence as the sniper takes aim at the stranded Russian infantry on the field, hitting the soldiers one by one.

The video has drawn significant attention online, highlighting the ongoing conflicts along the Russia-Ukraine border, where Ukrainian forces continue to hold ground in surprising incursions.
