Ukraine’s energy sector is once again under siege as Russian forces escalate their campaign against the country's infrastructure. Air raid warnings have been issued nationwide, with reports of drone and ballistic missile attacks targeting vital facilities overnight.

As reported by 20 Minutos, Ukraine's Minister of Energy, Herman Galushchenko, stated that gas infrastructure came under attack late Monday.

“The system is still under attack this morning,” Galushchenko wrote on social media, announcing emergency power cuts to mitigate further damage to the power grid.

Intensifying Assaults on Energy Infrastructure

Since March of last year, Russian forces have conducted regular large-scale assaults on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, including gas facilities and electrical grids. These attacks aim to destabilize the country's energy supply, particularly during the harsh winter months.

Tuesday’s air raid alerts covered the entire nation, underscoring the heightened threat posed by the latest wave of strikes. Ukrainian authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant as emergency crews assess and respond to the damage.

Zelenskyj Condemns Russia's Escalation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj criticized Russia's ongoing aggression, pointing to increased military production under President Vladimir Putin. "Putin does not seek peace but wants to continue the war," Zelensky warned in a recent statement.

The repeated targeting of energy infrastructure remains a key element of Russia’s strategy to weaken Ukraine’s resilience. Despite the continuous attacks, Ukrainian officials have reiterated their commitment to restoring damaged systems and maintaining critical services.

The situation remains tense, with further attacks and disruptions anticipated in the coming days.
