Corvette enthusiasts hoping for the beloved model to become its own brand will be disappointed.
General Motors CEO Mark Reuss firmly stated that the Corvette will remain a part of Chevrolet and won't become a separate sub-brand, despite its massive popularity.
During an interview on Jay Leno's Garage, host Jay Leno suggested that the Corvette has evolved into a brand in its own right. Reuss, however, quickly shut down the idea.
“Corvette has really become a brand of its own, hasn’t it?” Leno asked.
Reuss responded directly, dismissing any chance of Corvette separating from Chevrolet. He explained that Corvette represents the brand's core value—offering drivers more than expected for their money.
“That’s what the Corvette is,” Reuss said, making it clear that Chevrolet and Corvette are staying together.
Unlike Polestar splitting off from Volvo or DS becoming independent from Citroën, Reuss confirmed that Corvette won’t follow that path.
“That’s never going to happen,” he emphasized, putting to rest any rumors about Corvette branching off as its own company.
Although Corvette will stay under the Chevrolet umbrella, it’s still making its way to European markets, according to Boosted.
