A recall has been issued for Whole & Unsalted Raw Brazil Nuts from Now Foods due to high levels of mold and yeast, according to Food Safety News and the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

The recall, which began on August 14, 2024, affects products distributed nationwide and in Singapore.

The recalled nuts have a UPC of “733739070128” and a best-before date of September 2025.

According to the USDA, certain molds can cause allergic reactions and respiratory problems, especially in people with compromised immune systems. Some molds also produce mycotoxins, which can lead to gastrointestinal issues, including diarrhea, and other serious health risks.

While some molds, like those in blue cheese and brie, are safe to consume, it's generally recommended to avoid eating moldy food. Proper food storage and handling are key to preventing mold growth.

Consumers are advised to discard the product immediately. If you've purchased the recalled nuts, return them to the store for a refund
